Cadillac Big Power From 2.0L 4 Cylinder

Cadillac has just introduced a 2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine for its 2013 ATS compact luxury sedan. which is scheduled to have its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next month. The 2-liter 4cyl. will have 270 horsepower and 260 torque.

The engine, which has an aluminum block and cylinder head, relies on technology that is common to a number of efficient high-performance power plants: four valves per cylinder; continuously variable valve timing; a twin-scroll turbocharger with an intercooler to keep the charge dense; and direct fuel injection. Cadillac has combined substantial turbocharger boost — 20 pounds per square inch — with a compression ratio of 9.5:1, a high ratio for a forced-induction engine. A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and 3.6-liter 6-cylinder will also be offered in the Cadillac ATS.
